Once construction of the new high school facility is complete and students, faculty, and staff have moved in, the majority of the current FHS facility will be demolished to provide space for additional parking and relocated athletics fields. There are two exceptions:
- The current facility’s 900 Wing (built in 2003) will be retained and renovated to provide additional field athletics locker room space (required under Title IX) as well as needed central office space. For reference, the 900 Wing is the section of the current FHS facility that houses the student entrance and is located closest to the student and public parking area.Existing FHS with vintages of each addition – the 900 Wing is the red ‘2003’ section on the top right:

- The site design provides for the original 1928 Building to remain in place should the Town decide to keep it. As of February 25, 2021, demolition of the 1928 was removed from the project scope. Town council passed a resolution to change the project scope of the proposed new FHS facility to not include the demolition of the 1928 Building. Should the referendum for a new FHS facility pass, Town Council will establish a 1928 Building Committee to review options for the building.
