I want to express my support to the Farmington High School building committee and ask readers to vote Yes on June 3 in support of a new high school. Nearly 25 years ago, my husband and I sought a town in which to raise a family. Farmington ranked high for its location, but what set it apart was strong community support of churches and education. Rich with history, the town also was focused on the future of its top-ranked schools.
We have been fortunate to have raised three children here, all in the Farmington Public School system. As parents and community members we have attended countless FHS functions and seen the deterioration of the building and the cramped settings in classes. We also have attended meetings, classes and seminars sponsored by Farmington’s Continuing Education at FHS and know it can be a future flagship for hosting community events. Our children will not see the benefits of this amazing new building —and that is OK. It will strengthen the community, draw new residents and improve property values. Most importantly, it will renew a sense of pride in which our children might share when they choose to raise families of their own.
